I'm so bad at blogging

If this were as easy to keep up with as twitter, I would be posting a whole lot more often. I really need to get back to this.

I work at a daycare. It's nuts. I spend my days with 1 and 2 yr olds, fighting off bites, and tantrums. I change diapers and I open tons of gerber graduates meals. Even though I do all of those stressful and unexciting things, I do like my job. The kids are all sweet and adorable at least some of the time. They all love me.

It feels nice to have someone tell you look pretty or smell good. The only people who EVER tell me that are under the age of 4, but it still feels really special. They are always excited to see me, and they always compliment me in some way. Even though it's just the way they are, it is nice to hear compliments once in awhile. That's how interesting my life is now, with the only males telling me i look good being under the age of 4.

It's weird, I'll be forever alone, but it's life currently. There's hopefully someone out there attracted to me who is closer to my age, but I can wait. I'm only 22, and there's hopefully more time.

Day 30 - My favorite song at this time last year

My favorite song hasn't changed in years. I'm weird like that, I guess.

Day 29?- A song from my childhood.

I'm so embarrassed I didn't finish this sooner...
This song is from my childhood because my mom had a cassette tape of the soundtrack. My sister and I used to listen to it all the time. Once, we accidently recorded ourselves singing over the real songs. Oops...

I'm back!

We finally got decent internet at my house, so now I am able to update this again!

This summer, I did almost nothing other than be a big mess of uncontrollable anxiety. Trying to find a job has been so incredibly stressful. It didn't help that my parents were trying so hard to force me into taking any job out there. I don't want to just immediately give up on the major I just spent 4 years earning a degree for. My parents have been stressing me out so much that I probably gave myself stomach ulcers.

Another thing about this summer is that I pretty much avoided all of my friends. It wasn't something I did consciously, but it somehow happened. I think I felt like too much of a failure to want to acknowledge it. I avoided people in general, just because I didn't want to deal with people continuously asking me what I was going to do with my life now that I'm out of school.

The next time I update this, it will be more positive. I promise.

I Graduated!

I am now a college graduate, and I have to start looking for a career. I'm pretty nervous, but I have faith everything will be fine.

I will finish the music playlist as soon as we get internet here that isn't dial-up. Youtube/other video sites don't much like to work on dial-up. Hopefully we'll have better internet next week.

Now for a poem. This was in a book that I finished last night, and I quite like it.

"Again, and again, however, we know the language of love,
and the little churchyard with its lamenting names and
the staggering secret abyss in which others find their
end. Again and again the two of us go out under the
ancient trees, make our bed again and again between
the flowers, face to face with the skies."

Day 28- A song that makes me feel guilty

This is a difficult one. I guess this one makes me feel guilty just because of the reason I downloaded it.

also, here's the list again...i'm almost done!

Day 27- A song I wish I could play

I wish I knew how to play a string instrument. I think the cello would be amazing to learn.

Wednesday, May 12, 2010

Day 26- A song I can play on an intrument.

This one is difficult, considering that I've played the clarinet since 5th grade, and have played hundreds of songs. I guess my favorite experience with playing a song was Symphonic Dance #3, by Clifton Williams. I played it in high school, and in college last year. I have a deep love of bullfighting music, so that's probably why I like it so much.

Day 25- A song that makes me laugh

This song cracks me up...and this video will show you why. I believe the song is by Tom Jones.

Monday, May 10, 2010

Day 24- A song I want to play at my funeral

I don't actually know what I want. I can't say it's really going to matter to me, considering I won't be there. But, here's what I choose for now.

Thursday, May 6, 2010

Day 20- A song I listen to when I'm angry

This song is perfect. Also, this video is of a guy doing the song in sign language, which is pretty cool.

It's like he knew how much I loved/hated this song when he did this

These made me chuckle...

I was working on my flashcards for my Art History final, and these made me laugh...

here's where I found the pics...

Day 19- A song from my favorite album

This is a ridiculously hard one. I guess I'll go with this one, although I have about 5 favorite albums.

Tuesday, May 4, 2010

Day 18- A song I wish I heard on the radio

Hmmm, this song would make me super happy to hear on the radio. haha

I have no words for how attractive this is.

I am still on an emotional high from how awesome Evan was last night on DWTS.

Monday, May 3, 2010

Day 17- A song I hear often on the radio

I don't listen to a whole love of radio, but this song certainly is on it all the time when I do turn on the radio.

Sunday, May 2, 2010

Day 16- A song I used to love, but now hate

Bamboozle was a good time yesterday. I have learned that some people have no respect for anyone. I also learned that Kesha should probably give up her career and go find something else to do.

Today's song is annoying. I loved it for about one day, and then I didn't like it anymore, so I guess it counts for this.
here's the list again...

Saturday, May 1, 2010

Day 15- A song that describes me.

Today is Bamboozle Day 1. My friend and I are only going to one day, but it will still be super awesome. I've never been to it before, so I really hope we have a good time.

Anyway, this song of the day is difficult. I think I'll go with this one...

Friday, April 30, 2010

Day 14- A song no one would expect me to love

Haha, I think this works quite well here.

Day 12- Song from a band I hate

Well, I don't necessarily hate this band. In fact, I have some amazing memories with them. However, I currently want to dunk their heads in a toilet and flush. As of right now, I hate them as people for having so little respect for their fans.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

This might make me feel better

This has been a rough day. There's been so much smack talk between people I really care about today. I'm talking about more than one group of people who are not related to each other in any way. Why all this at once, and why all of it on the one day I really don't need to hear it?

Anyway, this video makes me smile, so I'll put it here for the next time my day sucks.

Day 11- A song from my favorite band

Well, I already posted a song from my favorite band yesterday under a different category. But here's my favorite of their songs!

Monday, April 26, 2010

Day 10- Song that makes me fall asleep

For about a year straight, I used to listen to this song right before going to bed because it really did make me fall asleep. I only heard the last notes a few times.
the list I'm following...

Sunday, April 25, 2010

I love this

The Madonna episode of Glee was so awkward, but I really loved their version of 4 Minutes. Maybe I just have a weakness for marching band music. haha

Day 9- Song I can dance to

This has been one of my favorite songs since forever. Ask any of my friends. I can't avoid dancing when I hear it.

Quote of the Day

"All of us know, whether or not we are able to admit it, that mirrors can only lie, that death by drowning is all that awaits one there. It is for this reason that love is so desperately sought and so cunningly avoided. Love takes off the masks that we fear we cannot live without and know we cannot live within."
- James Baldwin

Day 8- Song that I know all the words to

This song is a winner. I know all the words to all of their songs, but I just chose this one for this list.

Backstreet Boys - We've Got It Goin' On

Day 7- Song that reminds me of a certain event

I was on a trip with my Immigrant America class yesterday. We went to Ellis Island, so I didn't have a chance to post yesterday's song. Here it is!

This song reminds me of a few places. February 14, 2009: Phil Bensen and Push Play Valentine's Day show. The second place is this past June at my friends' graduation party. Phil was there, and he played a fantastic set.

I have made a decision

There are people out there who are constantly hated on for being themselves. If they can continue to be fabulous and amazing despite opposition, I should be able to feel fabulous and amazing too, right?

It's my new goal to feel sexy. Every single day. There's no reason for me to feel ugly and unlovable, because someone out there will think I'm not. There are so many incredible people who have chosen to act confident no matter what anyone else says, and if they can be strong and sexy, so can I. I don't even have haters to worry about. And I sure hope that doesn't change.

Day 6- Song that reminds me of someplace

This song reminds me of Mexico. My youth group and I went to Mexico a few years ago, and we heard this song in the weirdest place. We stopped at a gas station in the middle of nowhere, and this song came on the radio. We'd been in the van for like, 5 hours, and every song had been in Spanish up until this point. We were all very confused.

Quote of the Day

But the fear that all these years may fall apart
(its falling apart, its falling apart like me)
I'll admit I've known this from the start

Im only trying to say that
You and me should be together
I swear I've felt this way forever
Time is running out, we're only getting older now

Battlefield

There are a few things that I love no matter what. One of these things is bull-fighting music, but another is people performing Jordin Sparks' song Battlefield. I love the song, and live performances of it are my favorite thing. When I saw the Jonas Brothers last summer, the biggest highlight of the show was when Jordin came out and they all sang the song together.

Day 5- Song that reminds me of someone

My friend Abby and I have known each other since the dawn of time...or most of our lives. Anyway, this song reminds me of her.

Day 4- Song that makes me sad

This song reminds me of...
Clarinets, Marching Band, Disney World, Atlanta, Spaghetti Bridges, the Backstreet Boys, Mitochondria, Biology Raps, Faith, Pit Orchestra, Picking spaghetti off of the floor for months, Jeremy Camp, Dairy Queen, and so many more things.

I still miss you Amanda. I know you're having fun, not building bridges of spaghetti in Heaven :)

Day 3- Song that makes me happy

This song makes me happy because it is odd, and a little bit funny.
Here's the list I'm following

NERD - She Wants to Move

I am risking posting too much about Johnny Weir and sounding annoying, but I have to say this. I have my own opinions about homosexuality, and I am not going to talk about them, but I don't think we can dismiss what people say when they speak so honestly and profoundly. That is all.

I think I'll leave this here...

People who are happy and confident in themselves no matter what are the people I want to be around. They make me feel like maybe I'm special too.

Day 2- Least Favorite Song

You know, it's totally a tie between these two. I cannot choose...

Oh, the drama! The rivalry!

'When Michael Buckly made fun of rival figure skaters Evan Lysacek and Johnny Weir on his Youtube show What the Buck?, declaring that the wannabe-macho Evan and flamboyant Johnny were "totally doing it" and probably texted each other all day, Johnny posted the following message to Buckley's Myspace in response: "Love it, bitch! We totally don't text!"'
One of my favorite things is the supposed rivalry between Evan and Johnny. No matter how many times they say that it isn't a big deal and they don't really hate each other, it is just overlooked. People only want to hear about how different they are. Why do people always need a fight? I like when celebrities have a good sense of humor about themselves.

Something New

So, I saw this on another blog, and I thought it would be exciting...or distracting. Not sure which, but it doesn't really matter. So, here I go...

Day 1. My Favorite Song
I adore this song. The video is probably one of the cheesiest/funniest/most ridiculous things ever, but the song will always be a favorite.

5 People I Would Like To Talk With

I was thinking yesterday about who I would choose to have a conversation with if I could choose anyone. Lately, I've been thinking about everything except what I should be. It happens.
Anyway, these are people that I would choose to talk to if I could have absolutely any type of conversation, and they would be totally open and honest with me.

1. Johnny Weir
He seems like he's got it together so much of the time, but there's a 98% chance that it's just a front. I would like to know how he really feels about all the things that have been said about him. I want to spend some time understanding what he really thinks. He just seems like he would have a lot of really interesting things to say. I want him to teach me how to skate. I just want to hang out with him.
 2. George W. Bush
Before anyone freaks out on me, I want to say that I feel a lot of emotions regarding Bush, and none of them are really all that bad. I didn't really pay much attention to politics, and it doesn't really matter much to me what other people's opinions are of him. I just want to know how he's really feeling about the country, how his term was from his perspective, and the way he feels about how people talk about him now. I think it would be really interesting.
3. Nick Jonas
The Jonas Brothers have gone through a lot of stuff in the past 5 years. They exploded in popularity and had girls throwing themselves at them. Then they sort of went a bit off the radar. Nick is the most level-headed and calm out of the three of them, and I would like to sit down and hear him talk about his many experiences since the band has become popular. I want to know what it's like to go on tour, and be wanted, and be encouraged by millions of people every day. I want to know how he's really felt dealing with rumors and breakups, and all things that come with celebrity. I honestly care about that sort of thing.
4. Sean Astin
Sean is one of my absolute favorite actors. He's been in the business for pretty much his whole life, because of his parents. I would really like to sit and talk with him about acting, Lord of the Rings, and overcoming difficulties. I feel that he is really knowledgeable and would have a lot of interesting stuff to say.
5. Lady GaGa
As of now, I'm not sure I really like her. I'm kind of tired of her antics. However, I always want to give people a chance to prove they have a good reason for their actions. I would like to sit down with her and find out exactly what her motivations are. Why does she choose to act the way she does? Is she sincerely crazy, is she totally a free spirit, or is it some sort of performance art? I just want to know what she's really thinking. Maybe I'd be able to deal with all of her ridiculous antics if I understand her better.

End-of-Semester Stress

I know there's still a month left before graduation, but I am so exhausted. I feel like I could sleep for days. I've spent so much time thinking about all the things I need to do, but I can't actually make myself do those things. I'm so nervous about finding a job, that I just keep chickening out of actually sending out my resume. I'm not sure why I'm so worried, because there are plenty of jobs out there. I just need to find them.

This weekend is, get-it-together weekend. I have to figure out a way to convince myself I can do this.

It reminds me of this... Just place my name where Joubert's name replaced Tyrone's. haha

Adam Rippon

I'm pretty sure this is the last of these posts I'm going to make. I just can't leave out Adam Rippon. He didn't get to go to the Olympics, but he did fantastically at Worlds. He helped secure three spots for next year's worlds. Also, he has a jump variation named after him, the Rippon Lutz, which is a lutz with both of his arms up above his head. Other skaters have said that this is super hard, because it changes the center of balance. I am immensely impressed with him, and he will totally be someone to beat next season.
and the Rippon Lutz...

Florent Amodio

I cannot believe I forgot to add my favorite up-and-comer to my post last night. French skater Florent Amodio is possibly the most adorable person ever. In Vancouver and at Worlds, he did way better than anyone expected, which has catapulted him into the territory of One to Watch. I'm excited to see how awesome he becomes. He's like my Evan Lysacek of these past Olympics.

And lastly, because Skate Face is probably one of the funniest things to look at ever...
All skaters have Skate Face at some point during the program. You just can't have perfect facial expression at every single moment, especially not while you're spinning crazy fast. There are so many great pictures out there. Now I feel compelled to post a few more. haha :) Most times they look like they are in total shock, horrified out of their minds, or smelling something disgusting.

Easily Distracted

I really need to be writing a paper, but I just keep getting distracted. So before I really buckle down and make this paper happen, I'm going to make a picture post. You see, I'm not only a huge fan of Evan Lysacek, I am a huge fan of figure skating in general. It's become an obsession. I adore Johnny Weir, Brian Joubert, Stephane Lambiel, Daisuke Takahashi, Yu-na Kim, Mao Asada, Mirai Nagusu, etc. So, I'm going to familiarize you (my small amount of readers) with all of these people. So, here we go...

First, Johnny Weir (USA): He has been through so much crap, but still manages to be one of the most graceful figure skaters out there. I love this guy, no matter how much crap he gets for his femininity.Oh, and Jon Heder's character in Blades of Glory was based on him...and his swan costume :)

Next, Daisuke Takahashi (Japan): He got the bronze medal at the Olympics, and then went on to win the gold at Worlds a few weeks later. This dude has got some serious talent.

Next, Brian Joubert (France): He has had a rough season, but he pulled out a the bronze medal at Worlds. His exhibition skate to the neverending Sandstorm is pretty fantastic. The first page of Google is all kinds of pictures of him posing for things, not many skating pics. I guess that says something about his attractiveness.

Next, Stephane Lambiel (Switzerland): This guy has been known to have some silly costumes (magical zebra with wings?), but he also is a wonderful skater. He's been around awhile, and I believe he just announced his retirement.

Next, Evgeni Plushenko (Russia): This guy retired after the 2006 Olympics, but came back this season to go to Vancouver. He can do quad jumps like they're nothing, and has been criticized for his lack of sportsmanship concerning Evan Lysacek's gold medal. He won silver in Vancouver. In the past he has worn some pretty crazy costumes too.

Last for the men is Patrick Chan (Canada): Poor guy has a serious case of Crazy Eyes, but I've chosen pics that don't display that. I feel pretty bad for the guy, but if you really want to know what I'm talking about, Google him. He's a pretty talented skater, and I do like him despite the eyes. After Vancouver didn't go as well as he'd planned, he went on to win silver at Worlds.

There are some lovely ladies in figure skating too.
First off is Yu-na Kim (Korea): She won gold in Vancouver and silver at Worlds a few weeks later. She received the highest scores that anyone has ever received at the Olympics, which shows just how talented she is. In Korea, she is one of their biggest celebrities, and endorses a wide range of products.

Next, Mao Asada (Japan): She won silver in Vancouver, and gold at Worlds. She and Yu-na have been swapping places at the top for awhile now.

Lastly, Mirai Nagasu (USA): Mirai got 4th place in Vancouver, and she almost won a medal at Worlds. She was 1st place after the short program, but the stress got to her and she ended up in 7th, I think. Maybe 8th, I can't quite remember. She did her short program to Pirates of the Caribbean, so it would make sense why I liked that program so much :) She will be a huge act to beat in the future.
I'm pretty sure that's all I've got for now. I can guarantee that this is not the definitive list of skaters I like, but this is the main group. This is a HUGE post, which I didn't realize would be this bad until now. Sorry.

All pictures are from Google. Look 'em up!

Interesting Read

Over Spring Break, I read this book. It is the story of a male figure skater as he tries to overcome stereotypes and become a champion. Throughout the story, he struggles with the relationship between himself and a Canadian pairs skater. Yes, the character is gay, but that is not really a big issue in the book.

To be honest, I think maybe this book was a fanfiction that the author decided to get published, which resulted in changing the names. It seems to chronicle the life of figure skater Johnny Weir pretty closely. I can't pretend to know many details of Johnny's life, but it doesn't seem like the characters and events are just coincidence.

Here's the Amazon link

On another note...
I finished Inside Out, and it was incredibly good. I definitely did not see the big reveal coming until right before. Maria V. Snyder totally had me confused about what would happen until close to the end.
