I really need to be writing a paper, but I just keep getting distracted. So before I really buckle down and make this paper happen, I'm going to make a picture post. You see, I'm not only a huge fan of Evan Lysacek, I am a huge fan of figure skating in general. It's become an obsession. I adore Johnny Weir, Brian Joubert, Stephane Lambiel, Daisuke Takahashi, Yu-na Kim, Mao Asada, Mirai Nagusu, etc. So, I'm going to familiarize you (my small amount of readers) with all of these people. So, here we go...
First, Johnny Weir (USA): He has been through so much crap, but still manages to be one of the most graceful figure skaters out there. I love this guy, no matter how much crap he gets for his femininity.Oh, and Jon Heder's character in Blades of Glory was based on him...and his swan costume :)
Next, Daisuke Takahashi (Japan): He got the bronze medal at the Olympics, and then went on to win the gold at Worlds a few weeks later. This dude has got some serious talent.
Next, Brian Joubert (France): He has had a rough season, but he pulled out a the bronze medal at Worlds. His exhibition skate to the neverending Sandstorm is pretty fantastic. The first page of Google is all kinds of pictures of him posing for things, not many skating pics. I guess that says something about his attractiveness.
Next, Stephane Lambiel (Switzerland): This guy has been known to have some silly costumes (magical zebra with wings?), but he also is a wonderful skater. He's been around awhile, and I believe he just announced his retirement.
Next, Evgeni Plushenko (Russia): This guy retired after the 2006 Olympics, but came back this season to go to Vancouver. He can do quad jumps like they're nothing, and has been criticized for his lack of sportsmanship concerning Evan Lysacek's gold medal. He won silver in Vancouver. In the past he has worn some pretty crazy costumes too.
Last for the men is Patrick Chan (Canada): Poor guy has a serious case of Crazy Eyes, but I've chosen pics that don't display that. I feel pretty bad for the guy, but if you really want to know what I'm talking about, Google him. He's a pretty talented skater, and I do like him despite the eyes. After Vancouver didn't go as well as he'd planned, he went on to win silver at Worlds.
There are some lovely ladies in figure skating too.
First off is Yu-na Kim (Korea): She won gold in Vancouver and silver at Worlds a few weeks later. She received the highest scores that anyone has ever received at the Olympics, which shows just how talented she is. In Korea, she is one of their biggest celebrities, and endorses a wide range of products.
Next, Mao Asada (Japan): She won silver in Vancouver, and gold at Worlds. She and Yu-na have been swapping places at the top for awhile now.
Lastly, Mirai Nagasu (USA): Mirai got 4th place in Vancouver, and she almost won a medal at Worlds. She was 1st place after the short program, but the stress got to her and she ended up in 7th, I think. Maybe 8th, I can't quite remember. She did her short program to Pirates of the Caribbean, so it would make sense why I liked that program so much :) She will be a huge act to beat in the future.
I'm pretty sure that's all I've got for now. I can guarantee that this is not the definitive list of skaters I like, but this is the main group. This is a HUGE post, which I didn't realize would be this bad until now. Sorry.
All pictures are from Google. Look 'em up!
